the story
Creating art has always been a part of my life. Like most children, I loved the arts and crafts but unlike most I knew it was my calling. From an early age I entertained the idea of illustrating children’s books, becoming a fashion designer, and showing in art galleries. Through my journey as an artist I have practiced in all sorts of mediums, mostly during my studies at West Virginia University where I acquired a Bachelors of Fine Art.
One fine January the idea struck me that I could apply all that I have learned to creating patterns and seeing my art on all of my favorite products like gift wrap, fabric, wallpaper, notebooks, stationery, and so much more! I could do the thing that brings me joy, put it onto the items that bring me joy, and share it with people all over the world to also bring them joy! Now who wouldn’t want to do that? So off I went studying and learning what I could in the surface pattern design industry.
Life had some other plans for me though. At the same time my husband and I decided to start a family. While I have been establishing my business, learning, and creating, I have also had the joyful challenges that come with raising a child. More inspiration and drive were born with my baby and “baby steps” became my mantra. And with that, here we stand today.
the big picture
Creating something beautiful is what I live for, and my art is one expression of that. Our beautiful planet is what inspires me. My dream is to bring people joy through my representation of nature, while collaborating with companies dedicated to caring for our Earth. Harmony is waiting and we are the creators.
~ Brittany Lavelle
“Brittany is attentive to detail, responsive, and designs each piece with a flourish and gracious eye. I look forward to future collaborations with her, knowing her intuitive design is truly magical. She is a rare gem, and her art is other worldly. Brittany is a pleasure to work with, and I have no doubt that her reach will expand exponentially into a world where art is a song for the soul.”
